The O'Dochartaigh Clann Reunion is set for 16 - 22 July 2025 and we Clann members in Ireland look forward to welcoming our cousins and friends from the United States and all over the globe for what promises to be another amazing Gathering of all 300+ spelling variants of this ancient Clann.
Irish Ancestral Tours & Research Services are offering a one of a kind, tailor-made tour over ten nights to a select group of Clann members and invite you to join us. The tour will comprise of seven wonderful nights in Inishowen, the home of the O'Dochartaighs for centuries. This is followed by a fun-filled tour along the Wild Atlantic Way, through the Ancient East and ending up in our capital city, Dublin. You will spend each night in a four-star hotel with meals provided where advertised.
Jennifer Doherty will lead the tour. With almost thirty years experience in Irish family and social history and living in Clonmany, an Inishowen village with the highest concentration of Dohertys in the world per head of capita, Jennifer is best placed to give guidance on everything Clann related.

Proposed Departure Date from USA / Canada. All guests to secure their own return flights to Dublin International Airport, Ireland.
All guests should aim to arrive in Dublin, Ireland by the MORNING of Tuesday, 18 July 2023. Some of you are arriving in Ireland on Monday, but most are scheduled to arrive on Tuesday. The tour begins on Tuesday, July 18, 2023. We will be departing for Donegal and the O’Dochartaigh Clann Reunion by 1pm latest of that day.
Information sheets regarding flight details, special food requirements, room preferences, etc. will be issued to each guest prior to your home departure. Tuesday, 18 July 2023
TOUR DAY 1
Dublin Airport Meet and Greet - Meet with Jennifer Doherty (Tour Leader) to begin tour.
Proposed timing will be firmed up once we have confirmation of all guests’ arrival details but is likely to be 12pm. Do not worry regarding pickups as no-one will be left behind.
The total drive takes around 3½ hours. We will provide a Coffee Stop Comfort Break on our way north to Donegal. Light refreshments can be purchased.
Arrive at our destination late afternoon / early evening and check into hotel – Inishowen Gateway Hotel. Have a chance to rest for a couple of hours.

Buncrana Historical Guided Walk
Buncrana is the historic town in which our Reunion hotel is located. Gentle stroll along the Shore Front visiting the various local landmarks connected to the O’Dochartaigh Clann including the O’Doherty Keep.
Your afternoon is free to do further exploring of the town, shopping or take time to rest and visit with folks before evening events. Tonight’s Reunion event takes place in our Tour Hotel.

Donegal Delights Tour
Highlights include Fanad Lighthouse, Rathmullan (famous for the Flight of the Earls in 1607), and the historic Planation town, Ramelton. This tour will provide a glimpse of the other side of Donegal from the Inishowen Peninsula and the origins of the Clann.

The bus will depart from the hotel to Clonmany at 1.30pm.

Watch local craftspeople at work in a variety of Irish traditional crafts – including wool spinning, loom weaving, quilting, basketmaking and the creation of country foods such as butter churning. Storytelling, music, song, and dance sessions to be held throughout the day.
A lunch of homemade soup and sandwiches will be provided.
Bus to depart at 5pm to return to the hotel.

Dublin Castle

Check out of hotel – latest checkout is 12pm and you may wish either to rest before your flight home or take advantage of the free time in the morning and explore a little bit more of Dublin.
Should you want a tour guide on this day or for a couple more days, then please note that they are not included in the tour price, and you should make your own reservations with Jennifer privately in advance of the tour beginning. She would be happy to arrange private tours for small to medium-sized groups and is knowledgeable about the perfect itineraries for visitors with limited time.
Coach transfer provided to Dublin Airport at 1pm only from the Camden Court Hotel and assistance with check-in will be given if required before final farewell. If you wish to leave for the airport at any other time, please note that this is not included in the tour, however, private transfer can be arranged for you at an additional charge.
